 FOR GENERAL RELEASE

KIRKLAND, WA – (5/31/2016) – Sheila Dean, longtime digital and territorial privacy advocate, has earned the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)

Dean’s interests in the credential are strategic value added to her publishing work as an authoritative voice and to promote her marketability for service in the field. “The [CIPP/US] stands to create more avenues for growth and revenue from the field of privacy,” said Dean, who indicates labors long invested in non-profit privacy work and media now lead to measurable gains.

“Privacy professionals are the arbiters of trust in today’s data-driven global economy.  They help organizations manage rapidly evolving privacy threats and mitigate the potential loss and misuse of information assets.  The IAPP is the first organization to publicly establish standards in professional education and testing for privacy and data protection. IAPP privacy certification is internationally recognized as a reputable, independent program that professionals seek and employers demand.”   - IAPP Statement

ABOUT CIPP CERTIFICATION

The CIPP is the global standard in privacy certification. Developed and launched by the IAPP with leading subject matter experts, the CIPP is the world’s first broad-based global privacy and data protection credentialing program. The CIPP/US demonstrates a strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the U.S., the EU and other jurisdictions.

Dean joins the ranks of more than 8,000 professionals worldwide currently holding one or more IAPP certifications. The global field for privacy recently opened over 28,000 privacy positions following EU GDPR mandates in the UK.

“Privacy work is now a field with enormous growth potential for self-governance and privacy innovation in companies with EU stakeholders and CSR human rights postures,” said Dean.

About Sheila Dean
From website:

“Sheila is an active voice for more technical privacy provisions to improve the digital user experience. She also hopes to help optimize the new modern social discipline necessary to be more private. What started as a dedicated practice tour of the human rights and digital policy landscape, has landed on the edge of a technical self-leadership approach to reclaiming ownership of personal data.
In order to restore certain imbalances in society, she’s trying a lot of things.  Writing, speaking, productions, events and business opportunities are being pursued.”
